International Migration from India and its Economic Effects

On January 30th, Professor Devesh Kapur, an international migration scholar, visited Yale-NUS College. Professor Kapur currently serves as Director of Asia Programs and Starr Foundation Professor of South Asian Studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

As a part of his visit, professor Kapur gave a lecture on international migration from India and its impact on the Indian economy. The lecture was preceded by a roundtable discussion co-organized by the Global Affairs Major and YNDUS – Yale-NUS South Asian Society. Apart from migration issues, the discussion also focused on India’s domestic politics.
